Concept

Olive's Italian Bar is inspired by the timeless elegance of the Mediterranean region. The space features dark oak finishes and olive green materials to create a warm and inviting atmosphere that evokes the richness of Italian culture.

Materiality

Olive's Bar is centred around a sage terracotta tiled bar with a polished cream laminate finish that serves as the space's focal point. The bar is adorned with brass accents, adding a touch of sophistication and luxury to the design. The bar stools are upholstered in cream leather, complementing the dark oak finishes.

The interior walls have an off-white Venetian plaster finish with framed panelling, creating a cosy and intimate atmosphere. This sultry hue is balanced by the deep timber parquet flooring.

The intuitively chosen lighting creates a comfortable and inviting ambience. The ceiling features soft, recessed lighting that illuminates the bar counter and seating areas, while the brass wall sconces cast a soft glow on the walls, highlighting the textures and materials of the space.

The overall effect of the design is a cosy and intimate space that invites guests to linger and enjoy the rich flavours and traditions of Italian culture. The dark oak finishes and olive green materials create a warm and inviting ambience that is sophisticated and welcoming.

SPATIAL PLANNING

The front of the floor transitions into the bar and restaurant, cohesively connected through the natural material palette throughout the scheme. The deep timber custom counter is a centrepiece welcoming patrons into the space, while the aluminium-framed windows flood the interiors with natural lighting.

The open floor plan features a combined bar and table seating lined with stained oak flooring and detailed Venetian walls connecting the separate spaces seamlessly. Booth seating lines the back and side walls, forming intimate dining nooks.

The back of the house kitchen is hidden from the public, keeping the restaurant space quiet and calm. The washrooms are subtly disguised by a simple wall opening behind the bar, directing patrons to a terracotta-tiled hallway with five accessible stalls. The beautifully curated hallway is lined with timeless gold-toned wall-mounted lights illuminating the path back to the bar and restaurant.
